The Olibob Arts Foundation were incredibly honoured on 7th October to receive a £500 Donation from the Loddon Valley Lions (the group of the Lions Club International that supports the local area) to support our project in 2023 in collaboration with the Corn Exchange Trust in Newbury.
Two of our trustees, Sue and Simon, had to bid for the monies in the form of a “Dragons Dens” event where we had to give a 10-minute presentation to a panel of 4 people, with no slides, on the purpose and expected benefits of the request.
Specifically, the monies will be ring fenced to fund an Olibob Bursary that will access to year-long Youth Theatre group to one young local person. The Foundation will complement this with educational activities to demonstrate how the new skills learnt can be used to help with their future careers.
Spare monies will be used to fund tickets to allow young, disadvantaged people attending local schools, including local young carers, who would not otherwise be able to afford a theatre trip, to attend theatre productions including the upcoming panto.
